There are causal factors causing you to all get on the road even if you aren't causing each other. i.e you all want to get to work, or another road is blocked. And lots of people on the road can cause some others to stay away and choose another route. Though there are some "self organizing" or emergent properties here. Something similar is one theory of galactic spiral arms. You should talk to my brother he used to do traffic modelling professionally (for Israel Institute of Transportation Planning and Research).
