Actually there were power alerts for much of the summer last year. I recall only one Stage 3 alert, but a number of stage 2s and 1s. There were no blackouts (I think) because a number of large consumers were ordered to shed (when the State declared a Stage 2) load a several of times last summer. The Governor also ordered all State offices to reduce consumption by at least 5% (I think around July) which also helped.
