My response to you there - #reply-16359340 - was also wrong in the details, according to something i later heard on the radio, can't recall in what way exactly .... it is quite likely that terrorists entered through Canada, that's a long and porous border with high traffic over it .... chinese illegals have been smuggled into our west coast with New York as their destination, the ones that get through end up there as slaves for the 'snakeheads' who arrange their passage ... several small ships were seized here a couple of years ago, and several hundred illegals sent back, but nobody's naive enough to think they were all there was .... btw, i've crossed the border by kayak ... came right back without landing though, didn't start off early enough in the day or i would have had time for a beer at a pub on San Juan island ... nobody seemed to notice or care, i probably could have landed and made off with another pig if it wasn't for the risk of border readjustment, lol ... [do you know the story of how the line got drawn in Haro Strait? ... 'San Juan Pig War', google will have it]

Border's going to be tighter now, but i think really the logically principal perimeter is that of the continent - we cannot permit these sorts of people to operate here in any way ... one first step would be to remove the Revenue Canada tax exemption for donations to terrorist 'charities' [yes, bin Laden could with proxies set up an organisation and get a charity tax number here under current rules ... and may well have done so, who knows]

Better security all round - i don't know the capabilities and competence of our CSIS, whether they've got their act together any better than the fractured US intelligence branches ... lot of cooperation going to be necessary, lots of organising what is largely known information into a useable form

One bit of international commerce fallout - the price of BC grow-op marihoochie has tanked this side of the line apparently, and gone up considerably down south ..... a sign of Adam Smith's invisible hand reaching for the rolling papers, i guess eh

I should go over to FOs vs Cuddlies and say placating things to Odysseus, he's not a bad guy really and i was hard on him in making my point against 'commerce' department corruption ... that dispute continues, btw, only the language has changed, for obvious reasons ..... news on it today -

'...The officials discounted concern the softwood trade issue would be ignored by the United States in the wake of the deadly suicide attacks on New York and Washington.
The attacks, however, has prompted the Canadian producers to suspend a public relations campaign aimed at U.S. consumers who they claim will suffer through higher prices if the duty charges are not dropped.

I caught most of Bush speaking an hour ago ... can't see a great deal to criticise so far, he hasn't gone off indiscriminately blasting the rubble and goats of that place .... smart move to go to the mosque the other day, and mention US muslims and arabs, and portray Islam as a message of peace [i believe that's what the word 'islam' means, actually, 'peace'] .... Powell's done not so bad either ... so far no screwups, let's keep our fingers crossed

[edit] - check this out, nice place eh - fordham.edu

Welcome to the great white north, Snowshoe .... lol, you're likely the most northern of present company ... what do you like in stocks lately? ... i had some dell for two days there, sold it though, probably could have done more useful things for the cause than lose that four hundred loonies ... most of us here strong on resources lately, but an eclectic bunch overall ..... cheers
