<<Do you really think there's anything that will stop this drive to blast the enemy out of every corner of the globe?>>

The effort to stop it will be led, in part, by a guy you saw on TV tonight: Tom Daschle. He is currently in front of the cowards of Vietnam, the "Clinton" wing of the Democrat party. They view their mission not as supporting anything, but in seizing power. While much of America is still looking out merely days ahead, they are laying low, pretending loyalty, and looking MONTHS forward, to the first signs of "war weariness" for their next moves.

You'll see it first in the left wing media, when they gradually start carping about "Bush's lack of effectiveness" in the war. Chris Mathews will whine that famous whine, and the network talking heads will be off and running about the administration's "inability to avenge the deaths in NY" with "decisive" action.

Keep in mind that the American left is driven by the theory that a single superpower in the world is destabilizing, even if it is the US. The must have US humiliation to build their power base on. They were denied the debacle of a rapid withdrawal from Vietnam, and have never gotten over their rage. Today they pretend loyalty, because to do otherwise is political suicide. But they will bide their time, and await their chance.

The danger for them is that Bush, with very many more speeches like he gave tonight, will lead the people away from them. If he does, the Democratic party will abandon them, and free itself for the first time since 1970. That will be the end of the power base of this "disloyal opposition". But, unfortunately, there are no guarantees of such a positive outcome, especially as long as there are foolish conservatives who think "unity" with the American left is possible...
