Often, revealing the information you do have or don't have tells the other side a lot about how you obtained the information. Most intelligence people would rather keep info secret to protect their sources. Just speculation on my side but that is the usual philosophy. Eventually the US will put together a "sanitized" set of information that proves the case if they can.
