But now I could cool down a bit because I realized that I just was on the way to react in exactly that manner like you did. Hormons can switch off rational functions, I'm not free of this, you are not, nobody of us talking apes can do that, we just do be primitives.
I was not angry due to your strong words, I like the way you jet your spoken paintballs around. What has make me angry, what always makes me angry, is a widely deficit of recognition and logic. It was the ape in you who wrote this - I hope that the human in you can win the power again.
Just a few thoughts as encouragement to look over the rand of the plate when you find a moment without hate:

Sep 11 was not only an attack against US. Neither the victims nor the capital damage was just American but hits a lot of nations/cultures/religions - not least a respectable number of muslims.
A few thousends of victims. Thats hard to imagine. Victims just a few flight-hours remote of Steve and me - don't know where you live, Paul. I had to flight about the same time if I would like to "visit" the families of more than one million children died in Iraq due to missing nutrition and medical care - result of UN-embargoes got through by US.
This is just an example, Paul, I mean to remember a report that US was involved in more than 50 (!!!) "conflicts", more concrete wars, rebellions, (intelligence-)terrorism after world war II. I remember very precisely that US has killed more civilists than soldiers in Japan and more US-soldiers than enemies in Iraq. You're very intelligent, Paul, did you never read about your own history say - from the beginning? There's not much to be proud over.
For me the problem is not your brutal history - I cannot name a nation who is free of guilt - the problem is that you own this incredible ignorance: seems, you (not you alone) really think that just and only Americans would be innocent. That's a very painful joke being aware of millions of US-vicims overall in the world through the young history of US.
If you get it to realize what your own nation did you get the key why millions of people worldwide have at least the same anger and hate against US as you have against the unknown persons who are responsible for NY - and they're right in every logical, legal and moralic meaning of "right".
2. Der Vorwand (the wrong reason)
Guess your unreflected emotions (what else can emotions be?) are representative for a lot of Americans, Paul.
The alleged purpose of the coming war is to fight terrorism. Steve wrote that this cannot work. I guess, every intelligent person would agree, even me, who is not that intelligent and - worse - no person, because I'm not resident in US ggg - or better: ng ng ng. Nevertheless I see that nobody can "hunt down" terrorists who live in countries which hate the US (by what reason ever). Nobody ever can just find terrorists - whereever they live - as long as they did not start being active. This is that simple that I wonder how this stupid arguing can find any acceptance in US. In clear words: Your 40-billions-per year "intelligence"-services could not prevent this disaster as they will not be able to prevent the next (worse) reaction on that you're going to do now, your record-expensive army/navy could not "hunt down" any "evil" from Hitler over Hussein to Milosevic, and of course no islamic terrorists during the past years and I would be astonished if they would now. All they can do is serve TV-shows with criminal background like this bombing of an (innocent!) pharma-plant. Maybe you're in doubt about that, maybe most Americans are, propaganda works not alone by Göbbels, but I'm sure: Bush & Friends are on my side in this point - secretly.
Thus this is going to become a war with a not existing target? Not at all. Mr. Bush and his team surely has well defined targets - but targets he never could "sell" to the US-public. When you liked to win hints for your trading, it would be a good idea to consider which targets that could be. And be sure: it's going about power, about influence, about oil - not about the prevention of US-citicens. Worse, it's going about massacres - every body can see the signs:

If this really was islamistic** like it looks, they did use the same psycho-tricks for preparing their killers you are using now in US for preparing your killers. They need religion as vehicle for war and terror like you need religion als vehicle for war and terror. They deny to accept that these were humans in the planes, in the towers like you now ignore the fact that "tower heads" are human like you are, Paul.*** Then it's not going to fight, it's going to "smoke them out off their holes", to "hunt them down" - exactly like they did not really kill in their diction because the victims in NY were "unbelievings". They announce the "holy war" and you are on your "cruzewar". It's the same.
I will tell it in strong words the way you like it, Paul: You both are criminal, human-disdaining mass-killers or part of the brown (!!!) swamp they are fed from.
There's no difference, Paul, as long as you don't make free your brain. This was a lot above moral - now I forget "moral" (along logical calculation) like presidents use to do when no camera is running, assume "all is allowed when we feel greed and we do always feel greed" like presidents use to do and ask:

Conventional war? Ridiculous. Britains were on their limit yet in Argentina, US in Serbia - that's no joke. After having lost, having been beaten, how can I express that so clear that even Americans understand it, in Vietnam. These were locally restricted "conflicts" - against regions? Forget it. Help from "friends"? Say "my" Germans? Guess they could be terrific fighters against aggressors, but in say Iran? Forget it. Other European nations? Do you really believe that they would support this insanity? They would try to fake support. Russia, Japan, China? What do you think - out off gratuity for US-wellfare? Where you are sailing, weak up!
Fact is: You - US are quite alone in an aggressive war, even if you should be able to cause Arabic nations to attack other nations too with terroristic actions. Under the line: You don't even have a tiny chance to win without nukes and bacteriological arms - what means "win like the famous Pyrrhus", win losing.
Of course no country would ever attack US because it's absolutely impossible to win a pencil there, but - vice versa - US seems to be unable to learn that all this technology-shit may be good for killing of unlimited numbers of civilists like it ever has been but that just a Milosevic in Serbia was laughing about the tiny damage all these expensive toys could cause under his military forces.
Let's assume that consequently - in a certain state of escalation, f.e. after having lost thousends times thousend soldiers and innocent civilists - like f.e. in Hiroshima and NY it's going quite always against civilists, that's by far less risky for proud soldiers - on both sides, even nuklear and biological arms are used. On both sides, of course. You cannot provide terrorism, you cannot keep away bacteria from entering US and you cannot make sure that a nuke comes to visit US - surely they will not chose the way through your immigration-offices.
They have it too, they will use it too, and they have the possibilities to do that too. Everywhere in the world, of course. Arrogance is the result of a lack of realisation.
Let's assume the "we" are "stronger" under the line. Of course our milk-babies cannot fight in strange regions - even not without Coke, Burgers and MTV - like desperate "third world" inhibitants can do - but we are not ashamed to use mass-devasting methods (great CNN-pics!), we have better technology to devaste their countries so that for generations no living will be possible there. Anytime the fire will be burned down, say one or two attacks like in NY a week, nothing remarkable.
Mr. Bush will have a victory-party anywhere far below the ground middle in his bunch of winners and winner-woman, healthy, no radiated of course, in good mood.
Oh, shouldn't forget, my friends Schröder and '68-Fischer have nuke-save luxury-rooms too anywhere in Germany like probably all "democratic" leaders trying hard for their population: "Don't be chicken - let me take the place behind the tree!"
They will lay in their arms singing "is this the world we created", throwing tears by emotion.
Later - maybe - we (we here will not survive I bet - if not killed by the war then killed by our age :o) will have the technology to win their oil again, despite radiation and killer-virus roundabout. Another great time for Texaco-stocks, Berney.
Even if great parts of US and nearly all Europe should not be habitable anymore, the survivers can move elsewhere - a great new period for proud seddler-trucks could begin.

Is that the strategy? Do you believe that as Americans, with a good feeling what American presidents are able to do if they had, say, visions like "great" figures in history who tried to destroy the world as good as they were able too for great imperia?
