Can not lose what you never had. IMHO Wall Street does not exist to make you or me wealthy. Wall Street exists to facilitate the transfer of wealth between individuals.

Read "from" some people, "to" others. And the bias in that direction starts out inversely proportionate to one's wealth.

The entire machine is designed amazingly like a casino. Some people win, others lose. Just enough winners amongst the losers that folks keep on coming back for more.

No, it's not the folks on Wall Street. They're just doing their job. And amazingly well, it appears.

Perhaps you would save your ire for the media, who were completely duped into being the marketing arm for Wall Street. Everybody loves a good story, and the media is no exception. These folks haven't been telling the "straight" goods for a long time.

But then, it hasn't been exactly popular to hold a contrary opinion. I mean, you only have to go back on this board six to twelve months (six to twelve days even) to see the invective heaped on those of us who had the gall to say "Ummm.. I don't think so". I imagine the ratings of any show with such a position would have plummeted.

So it's hard to criticize the media. If anything, criticize the loudest of those who would shout down alternative perspectives. But since shouting louder or softer is human nature, all you can criticize them for is being loud and obnoxious. And they have already been punished. No, I can't say it's their fault either.

In the end, the only person that seems to deserve any criticism is the one who makes the decisions. The person who decides what facts to listen to and which to dismiss. The person who selects which source of facts they will believe. The person who says buy and sell.

To this person go all credits. Plus and minus. That's where responsibility lies. Easy to take when the market's going up. Hard as heck to swallow on the way down.

John.
