There are ideas that would diminish man, but there are others which help to inform human life and endeavor with purpose. A lot of times, it is a matter of versions. For example, I think that patriotism is a good thing, for it enhances the sense of solidarity with an historical community, and therefore gives one a sense of place and something enduring to contribute to. But ethnic nationalism, especially in its fascistic form, which utterly subordinates the individual to the "Volk", and is intolerant of minorities, is evil.
