Datacoms is the next incumbent. 3G threatens to port to the air interface what today 'travel' by wire LAN-WAN.
Spectrum, does for 3G what the copper plant did for ADSL. I don't know if you have followed the CLEC debacle.

This resource -spectrum- has to be made available with care. That's because it has the potential to lay waste in today LAN-WAN environment.

Incumbents have a lot of clout in Washington. Just note that they did with the Telecom Act of 1996. It didn't happen. They torpedoed it.

Now it is time to defend the revenues and all the acquired interests in today's datacoms status quo.

National security is the last resource of the lobbyist. In name of 'national security' many incumbent can hide his commercial interests.

Expect WLAN's to be the target of much 'security' concerns That's because WLAN's are the technologies that will crack the datacom incumbent wall.
