RESEARCH ALERT-Homestore.com started with ``buy''

NEW YORK, Sept 21 (Reuters) - Deutsche Banc Alex. Brown said on Friday it initiated coverage of Homestore.com Inc. (NasdaqNM:HOMS - news) with
a ``buy'' rating and a 12-month price target on the stock of $23.

The firm said Homestore.com's ``high-margin, subscription-based revenue model appears to be somewhat defensible in the current economic climate.''

The firm expects Homestore.com to report earnings of 55 cents a share on revenues of $523 million in 2001, and earnings of 93 cents a sahre on revenues of $685 million in 2002.
Shares of Homestore.com shed 30 cents, or 3.54 percent, to $8.17 in morning trading on Nasdaq.
