Unions lobby against airlines bailout because there's no goodies for them. Democrats use opportunity to send country into depression:

An AFL-CIO spokesman said the group was lobbying against the current House/Senate bailout bill because it doesn't include worker protections like extended health-care coverage, worker retraining programs and extended unemployment insurance. As layoffs mount not only in the airline industry but elsewhere, Democrats are increasingly pushing longer benefit periods for unemployment insurance as an alternative to Republican plans for further tax cuts.
