We must act, but what will be the act?

For decades these nations have been harboring terrorists; fomenting hatred in the guise of religious belief; keeping their people uneducated and in poverty.

The leadership in these countries are wealthy beyond imagine yet many of their people have nothing.

Why do you think this is so?

It keeps them in power. But its backfiring now. They are stuck between the fervor brought on by fanatics or doing what is right.

If they do what is right, they will likely lose their power. My bet is they turn away from right and try to co-opt their inflammed people in order to hold on to what they have.

Saw what you will about western / civilized society, as a whole we work for good, for advancement, for openness, for fairness. We are not perfect, we make many mistakes. But we as a society trend towards fixing mistakes and improving life for all.

Unless the leadership of these nations who exist only through keeping their people down will make a dramatic change, someone will do that for them.

At this point, it seems as though the wick has already been lit by terrorists, its burning quickly, and the only thing we don't know is who - their people, or the US led coalition - will force change upon them.
