| Auto-trol's CENTRA 2000(R) EDM, PDM, and Workflow Product Receives Institute Of Configuration Management CMII(R) Certification Collaborative Product Configuration Management Software Achieves CMII Certification Demonstrating a Broad Range of Robust Functionality
DENVER, Sep 13, 2001 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Auto-trol Technology Corporation (OTC Bulletin Board: ATRC chart, msgs) today announced Configuration Management II (CMII) Certification for its CENTRA 2000 collaborative product configuration management system. The prestigious Institute of Configuration Management (ICM) awarded the certification after CENTRA 2000 demonstrated its ability to meet a 23-item process automation checklist, particularly the critical ability to clearly identify and control elements within the core functions of Hierarchies and Linkages, As-planned/As-released Baselines, Document Metadata, and Ownership Validation. CMII, developed by the Institute of Configuration Management, is a scalable, closed-loop model that represents the best-practices standard to manage all product and process-related information and associated changes. More than 3,000 CM professionals have completed ICM's comprehensive, university-sponsored training program and achieved CMII certification. With its CMII certification, organizations now have CENTRA 2000 as a capable, viable solution to assure that their EDM, PDM, and Workflow processes can help support their enterprise CMII initiatives.

Vince Guess, President of ICM and Director of the University-sponsored CMII certification program, has this to say after the CENTRA 2000 compliance demonstration: "The many CM professionals that have received our training over the years have had difficulty in implementing CMII and achieving the potential benefits for one major reason; the appropriate enabling tools have not been available. I am very pleased to acknowledge that the functionality of CENTRA 2000 is very robust in the areas that are most critical to successful implementation. I was also very pleased to see that Auto-trol is utilizing their CMII-compliant CENTRA 2000 Collaborative Product Configuration Management system to enable and manage their own software development process."

Steve Spradlin, Executive Vice President and COO of Centra 2000, Incorporated, had these comments about CMII certification for the CENTRA 2000 product line. "CENTRA 2000's recent CMII certification demonstrates our commitment to support configuration management methodologies, models, and processes established by the ICM. The internal software configuration management system, which we use to control the development of CENTRA 2000, implements several aspects of the CMII model. Our entire product development team uses CMII combined with CENTRA 2000 on a daily basis. As true users of CMII and CENTRA 2000, we are able to ensure the highest quality products for our customers and our business."

CENTRA 2000 remains the only product of its type to support the combination of configurable folders, data model, processes, and security through a graphical user interface, without programming or database schema changes. In addition, CENTRA 2000 provides over 800 programmatic methods to support customization of Find/View/Print, Electronic Document Management, Electronic Content Management, Product Data Management, Configuration Management, and Workflow applications. The recently released version 5.3 includes new configurable and customizable web workflow task support; a spreadsheet-style user interface in the Configuration Editor; and configurable online help for the PC client. Auto-trol will demonstrate CENTRA 2000 CMII compliance at the upcoming CMII User Group Conference at the U.S. Grant Hotel in San Diego, 23-26 September 2001 (www.cmiiug.com).
