FAX used to be called First Australia Prime Income but is now called Aberdeen Asia-Pacific Prime (changed focus earlier this year) Now there is the opportunity for the fund to go into Asian bonds. I have held it but for yield and diversification (diworsification?) It is also a Closed End Fund so it can sell at premium or discount to its underlying assets. It often pays the dividend as a return of capital. There was some thought that the dividend might be cut. I still have some but would be concerned to buy here. I like your thought about the Aussie dollar however. I originally bought thinking it was way undervalued.

I bought CEF today so as to have some physical gold and silver in my portfolio. Also holding FSAGX and a impossibly tiny co. CALVF (canadian penny) Back to my lurking mode.
