vi is an editor that runs under the UNIX operating system. ":wq" is "write and quit" == "write the changes I made to the disk file and quit the vi editor (return to the UNIX prompt)". vi is short for "visual editor". vi was almost the first full-screen editor- -you could see a whole screenful of the file at a time. Earlier editors were line editors- -you got one line at a time.

Moslem? Muslim? Variant spellings. Same thing. Moslem is older, I believe.
