Hi Stephan, a single patent issued in 1995 means that some engineer and his supervisor decided an idea might be worth something someday and made an effort to go through the process of filing. I believe VLNC has 50 or 60 patents and many of them are the result of having further developed the Bellcore technology (also patented).

Considering the amount of time it has taken VLNC and ULBI to develop their mfg techniques, I would suspect most OEM's like Motorola would concentrate on their primary products and choose to purchase a component such as a battery from an outside source.

Hanil telecom decided that VLNC's technology was worth putting up $50,000,000 for their South Korean plant and will share 50% of the profits with VLNC. We know they wouldn't have done that if the Li-Ion polymer process was simple. Anyway, we probably would have heard about a Motorola Battery plant by now if there was any relevance.
