I know we have all gone through a huge array of emotions the past weeks. I have cried a lot and sought sustenance from others I never thought as strong as me. And then in a flash, I decided that I needed to be strong, that it was completely unfair of me to burden others with my weakness.

For a few days I feigned strong and felt weak. And now I am in fact beginning to actually feel strong.

A lot of it has to do with the discussion @ aei.org

As a nation, we have been naive, and now we have been awakened. The aforementioned article, among a slew of salient points, makes clear that we have never ever been ready for war. Bet that's not going to happen again.

Welcome to the modern world.

On another note, I live within a mile of the Sears Tower, and two nights ago I saw the fattest raccoon I have ever seen quietly strolling down the sidewalk to the gate to my yard, through the gate and into the bushes. I quickly went and got the cookies and peanut butter, but the damned raccoon told me it had already had enough of those. Damned critter wanted Chicago beef. I sent him packin'. Keep an eye on your critter population, he'll probably bring a bunch of tourists with him.

You don't give 'em the crunchy kind, do ya?
