This is part of the problem - NetBEUI does not show up on the list of possible protocols to install on one of the PC's and pointing the browser to the CABS file or the ME CD doesn't help.

If sharing depends on NetBEUI I have to have a way to get NetBEUI installed. Totally flummoxed as a result.

Go to the Configuration tab of the Network Control Panel and compare the protocols installed to the table below. If NetBEUI is missing, then click Add… select Protocol, click Add … and select Microsoft. Then select NetBEUI and OK your way out. Bind NetBEUI only to the interior LAN adapter. In our example, this is the Diamond HomeFree PCI Adapter. Do not bind NetBEUI to the exterior LAN adapter, if any. If NetBEUI is bound to both adapters, select the binding to the exterior LAN adapter and delete it.
