I've come to respect your intellect and even some of your opinions but you lost me on that one....

I'll take that as an unexpected compliment. Thanks.

I have a very high regard for the US, in spite of anything that I've posted here. But I don't agree with every single policy decision that is made and I don't think that anyone else here does either.

Supplying the third world with weapons is a big business. A very big business. We always have a reason to provide a scum sucking cockroach a small arsenal, if their objective coincides with ours. Around one and half million Afghans died during the course of conflict with the Soviets. At the end of the conflict, we quietly stepped back from Afghanistan and left them to struggle through life. Leaving the scum sucking coachroaches armed with US made weapons. Did we expect that after that death toll the successfull fight for freedom would be followed by the appearance of Internet cafes and Starbucks?

I haven't seen any global candlelight vigils for the one and half million Afghans that died. I certainly don't expect to, their deaths were inconsequential compared to our objective of defeating the Soviets. I'm not sure that the world even cared about any Afghans that died.

Millions of personnel land mines are spread across the world, made by primarily China and the US. Many left behind after the conflict has passed. US and China have objected to any global agreement to abolish their production. But they are laying in Southeast Asia, killing and crippling farmers and children.

This is not a justification of what happened in New York and Washington in any way. It's a very brief attempt at describing the environment of Afghanistan.

The phrase "business of death" is harsh. It was meant to be. The world has to find another way; we cannot continue feeding arms to the third world. We can always come up with a justification for continuing the madness. But we always leave behind the incubator for terrorism.
