It's funny, my personal shift in importance has been away from drug interdiction and toward safety. I agree about the alleged airline laxity. To me, it was a reflection of a general laxity over a wide spectrum: INS practices, CIA counterterrorism practices, municipal security, etc. It was the airlines which got his this time. It will, mark my words, be another industry which gets his next time. We just don't know whether it will be the water supply, trucking industry, highway safety.... they'll change their tactics. They're well-prepared and filled with bloodlust.
It pains me to even read what I've just written. I've spent a lot of time reading this weekend, trying to prepare, emotionally and otherwise, for what comes next. |
