I wonder whether the "lot of Navy and Air Force pilots" who left recently is the result of folks who enlisted to avoid the last years of the draft while Viet Nam was raging, and are now reaching retirement age, rather than bearing any political implication. Plus, pilot jobs in the commercial sector pay pretty well.
