Well, the Jews were kinda nasty in dealing with the Bedouins as well Nadine...
But given their unwillingness to integrate into society, and the fact that their continual crossings between borders and unwillingness to recognize national boundaries, Israelis considered them a security risk.
However, these relatively few instances of Israeli repression/oppression of certain Arab groups will be continually overshadowed by the 50 years of open hostility, warfare and terrorist attacks against civilian targets in Israel by Fedayeen, the PLO, and other groups.
The way I look at it, both sides have blood on their hands from times past. However, at least the Israelis are cognizant (embarrassed?) enough to realize that this is not the way they want to have their society seen, thus there is hope that such abuses won't reoccur.
But on the West Bank, we know have Palestinians supporting suicide bombings against civilians at a ratio of nearly 3-1.. We have Palestinians dancing in the streets when 6,000+ innocents from 80 different nations are slained by the terroristic attacks of a couple of dozen fanatics.
I think it would be a rare, and rather embarrassing occurrence, to ever see a Jew dancing in the streets over the death of a Palestinian or Arab civilian.
