Can the moral superiority. You live in a country that refuses to defend itself but are perfectly willing to let Americans' sons and daughters do it for you.

Sure, then on the otherhand how can you not condemn the expected loss of life in Afghanistan, surely there's an innocent child or two or thousand that will lose its life.
