IBM LAUNCHES DVD-ROM

In it was only-a-matter-of-time category, IBM ships
consumer PCs with DVD-ROM drives in June. The
drive is accompanied by a 233-MHZ Pentium
processor, 32 MB of memory and price tag under
$3,000. Next on the stage is the Aptiva PC with a
200-MHZ Pentium MMX and tuner card that can be
television-enabled by a digital satellite capability and
Microsoft's aforementioned Electronic Programming
Guide featured in Memphis.

IBM's thinking of the deploying the Aptiva as a server
for controlling home functions such as air conditioners,
lights, coffee makers, alarms and other appliances. Log
on and talk to your house...
