I do not believe that reporters can operate on todays battlefield, without sooner or later revealing potentially damaging information.

A background jet, a hill or mountain someone recognizes or the like. Probably by accident more than malice, but the soldier is just as dead. The instantaneous nature of todays news creates the potential which cannot be avoided.

This is all very different than in WWII or Korea, where the visual information available to the public was a week old at best, usually older. Written information was a day or two old at best. Written information would be less risky as well, there was time to scrub.

This is not the world we live in however.
