A "balanced" view would not continue to refer to events of 50 years ago..

The fact is that Israel exists, has a right to exist, and will continue to exist so long as they are capable of defending their territorial boundaries against the use of force.

The Palestianian state has NEVER existed, was not permitted to exist by either the British or Arab states, and is trying to create it's existence at the expense of the security of Israel, BUT WITH NO SUCH SACRIFICE BY THE ARABS.

So it's a battle of wills here Len... A battle of blood and death...

But while we can't always limit civilian deaths in such conflicts, we MUST make a statement against those who would directly target civilians in order to accomplish their military goals.

And that goes for groups the US supports, or any other group. If you want to fight for your "freedom" (which would never exist under Arafat), then target your attacks against soldiers, not civilians.

There are too laws that exist in today's society. The law that is written down as part of some statuatory process or treaty...

...and the law of the jungle, where might makes right...

Since there is no basis for law in Palestinian society, and there is rampant lawlessness, the law of the jungle is the book that both sides are resorting to...

And in the jungle we're like pacifists preaching in the middle of an all-out bar brawl.
