Since the reality as demonstrated by Vietnam, is far different than your ideal scenario, and the technology so tempting, I cannot concur. In the Gulf war, the military chose to include reporters or not, on any particular mission. The only way to accomplish your scenario is to do the same, with every mission, not only an inconvenience, but hazardous to the soldier, one more person to be concerned with; or let the reporters run free, which I don't believe is your intent either.
