Poll indicates Palestinians becoming more radicalized More Palestinians today believe violence will lead them to independence, and fewer support the peace process as a means of achieving a Palestinian state than when the current conflict began one year ago, according to a Palestinian opinion poll released by the Jerusalem Media and Communication Center. Approximately 85 percent of those polled said they want the intifada to continue, while 53 percent said they are optimistic it will achieve its goals. Almost 85 percent of those polled said armed operations are legitimate. Most Palestinains attribute the outbreak of the conflict to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon's visit to the Temple Mount. Support for Fatah decreased while support for Hamas increased in the past year. More Palestinians said their goal is now the "liberation" of all of mandatory Palestine. Some 1198 people over the age of 18 were interviewed throughout the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and eastern Jerusalem two weeks ago, after the terrorist attacks in the United States, the JMCC said. jpost.com
