How about the prohibition against marijuana.

First. Remember that the statement that I made, if you were following the thread, was that no law is passed which does not in some way involve the imposition of the moral beliefs of some group upon our society.

Certainly there are many who for religious or other reasons believe that Marijuana is wrong. There are those who say that I have a right to harm myself if I choose to do so and those that say the law can and should protect us from ourselves. These are all moral views, in the case of marujuana the moral view of those who believe the use of drugs desecrates your body and that government can protect you from yourself prevailed.

"Where's the morality in that, in light of alcohol (another drug) which is not prohibited."

I never said that it made sense only that all laws are based on some group's view of morality. The necessary implication of this is that when laws are passed those who pass them are using the force of government to impose their moral view.
