CNN fights malicious rumour mill UPDATED theinquirer.net

From an unlikely source, an update of sorts on an early much circulated story. Mostly for amusement. It's in somebody's interest to dump on West Bank Palestinians, otherwise they're pretty irrelevant.

The shots of celebrating Palestinians were indeed filmed shortly after the attack on the WTC but, according to the German magazine stern, some of Palestinians in the pictures knew nothing of the attack at the time and were celebrating for other reasons.

Fatma Hussein told stern she was horrified to see herself on the TV that evening dancing about, apparently in celebration at the attack.

‘Never in my life have I been so ashamed as in that moment,’ said the 45 year-old mother of eight. ‘What does the world think of me? That I celebrate when somewhere thousands of people die in agony?’

She says she was passing the Eiffel sweetshop when she was handed a plate of her favourite Palestinian speciality, Knafeh, a cake made from honey, cheese and caramel sugar. She says a cameraman shouted to her, ‘You can have them if you cheer.’ Fatma cheered and was given the cakes, which she happily ate.
