CNN is gradually returning to their liberal ways after a few weeks off. How tough it must've been for the CNN braintrust and core viewership:
1) First they had to put up with all the religion/god nonsense that followed the events of Sept. 11. Wasn't it Ted Turner himself who said that religion was for the weak? But what choice did they have, not covering these funerals would really have incensed and alienated their already shrinking viewer base.
2) Then we had to put up with a these preposterous displays of flag-waving and flag festooning of cars, buildings, firetrucks and people wearing patriotic clothes. Again, they would not dare voice their usual opposition to these "insensitive" displays of patriotism. Personally, it has always escaped me how displays of the American flag could be considered insensitive to anybody. Can anyone expound of the liberal logic here?
Students of WWII. Did not the League of Nations stand idly by while Nazi Germany built up their military thoughout the 30's? Germany constantly entering into treaties and agreements, only to break them while the pacifist governments of the west hooted and hollered? CNN pacifist liberals have a rich history of pushing their countries to the brink of disaster.
I've seen several interviews on the news channels recently with peacenik college students protesting the upcoming military action. As usual we heard the standard refrain "If we bomb them and kill innocent Afghan bysanders, then we are no better than the terrorists".
These Islamic extremists want all westerners dead. Including peaceful demonstrators. Our ways are a cancerous threat to the world, as they see it. Its us or them. Personally, I would rather it be us that survive.
BTW, anybody remember 1962?? I'd like to hear about the cuban missile crisis and it's effect on the American psyche. Then, Americans were worried about incineration in a nuclear war with the Soviet Union. Today, it's a sports stadium succumbing to a gaseous cloud.
