Anyone out there familiar with Netapp's filers and EMC's SAN systems care to talk about the advantages of each and what Network Appliance's competitive advantages are? Can NetApp's filers do something special that no other NAS system can do? Something that requires patents or some special network effect?

Just interested in getting some discussion other than where everyone is looking to buy NTAP stock..here are some good posts that talk about many different subjects.

This author feels it is possible that NTAP's proprietary WAFL (Write Anywhere File Layout) could ultimately become embedded into the network storage architecture like Cisco's IOS protocol.
