I'm not sure how that would be relevant to the JDS Uniphase 'prediction' except maybe some other company will offer products that compete with JDS Uniphase on such a price cutting objective that it blows JDS out of the water in the future. And if so, in terms of gorilla gaming, would you equate the value chain and product adoption life cycle of Microsoft's OS series to the same kind of a game that JDS Uniphase is involved?

basically, i'm saying that how do you know Microsoft will be profitable 5 years from now? Buying JDSU stock today discounts that JDSU may not turn profitable. MSFT stock on the other hand is assuming they will continue to dominate their market which could be wrong.

We can think and predict all we want, but until the proof is in the pudding we simply don't know. The market will tell us at some point what JDS Uniphase will do in Q4 of 2002 - long before Q4 even begins. Well, at least several months before. Remember, management at JDS Uniphase announced plenty of things in the past that didn't turn out to be on target.

hmm...I2 was a profitable business and now they are losing millions per quarter. Tell me again, why is the proof in the pudding?
