On the economic calendar for Tuesday we have: To be released at 10:00 am edt: Consumer Confidence for Sept. and Existing Home Sales for August.
LONGS:
XLNX, Xilinx, Long >26.50, Semicustom Logic-Semiconductor Sector, $SOX.X This stock saw its first reversal day after 6 days of selling on Monday. XLNX closed near the high of the day on strong volume. Above 26.50 we break the high of Friday on our way to 27.50.
AMD, Advanced Micro Devices, Long >10.03 or on light volume pullback near 9.50, Semiconductor Sector- CPU’s, $SOX.X This stock broke out on strong volume over the past 2 days but will need to see a continuation of this volume to go any further. We are more inclined to buy this one on the breakout. Above 10.03 we break major moving averages on the 5 and 15 min charts.
SHORTS
MRK, Merck, Short <63.37, Drug Sector-Major Drug Companies, $DRG.X Below here we break a support zone on the daily that has been tested three times in the past 8 days. The next support isn’t until the 62.00 area.
LLY, Eli Lilly, Short < 76.22 or on light vol rally or gap up near 77.50, Drug Sector-Major Drug Companies, $DRG.X. After losing support on 09/19 LLY has now rallied back up into resistance. The ideal scenario for shorting LLY would be a light volume gap up.
