BELLEVUE, Wash., Sep 25, 2001 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- InfoSpace (Nasdaq:INSP), a leading provider of the platform and applications that enable partners to deliver consumer and commerce services across the Internet to any device over current and next-generation networks, today announced the appointment of Gen. Richard D. Hearney to its Board of Directors.
Hearney, a highly decorated retired Marine Corps officer, also served as vice president, business development of Western Europe for McDonnell Douglas Corporation. He then became vice president of Military Aircraft and Missile Systems Group for the Boeing Company. Hearney is currently president and CEO of Business Executives for National Security (BENS), a non-partisan organization of business leaders who apply lessons of their successful businesses to making our country safer and more secure.

Among his many military decorations are the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit with gold star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal with Combat "V," Purple Heart, Air Medal with Combat "V" and bronze numeral 39, and Navy Commendation Medal with Combat "V."
