IDX Major Mid-West Airport Selects Identix's Biometric Security Solutions To
Conduct Employee Background Checks

Ninth 'Category X' U.S. Airport to Select Identix Security Solutions

LOS GATOS, Calif., Sept. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Identix Incorporated
(Amex: IDX), the worldwide leader in providing biometric authentication,
security and identification solutions, announced today that it has been
awarded a contract from a major mid-west airport to provide the airport with
Identix biometric security solutions to perform background checks on
prospective airport employees to help the airport comply with the Airport
Security Improvement Act of 2000. The major mid-west airport joins eight
other "Category X" airports in selecting Identix's fingerprint technology.
"Category X" airports are partially defined as the busiest airports in the
U.S. based on the number of passengers served. The purchase order from the
airport was received prior to the events of September 11, and includes three
Identix TouchPrint(TM) 2000 Applicant Fingerprint Systems. The systems are
expected to be installed by the end of October 2001.
Identix Chairman & CEO Robert McCashin commented, "We are the established
leader in the world today in providing biometric authentication, security and
identification solutions. Additionally, we believe we have been selected to
provide our fingerprint biometric systems for rapid background checks to more
'Category X' airports in the U.S. than any other company. We are pleased to
add this significant mid-west airport as the ninth 'Category X' airport to
employ our solutions. We believe that this is the first level of security for
an airport, ensuring their employees do not have criminal histories. We look
forward to continuing to assist our Nation's airports enhance their security
solutions."
Identix has bundled its leading-edge TouchPrint 2000 Applicant
Fingerprinting System in a specially designed 'SAFERR Solution' for U.S.
Airports. The SAFERR (Standardized Airport Facilities Employment Risk
Reduction) Solution meets the specifications of the FAA and provides a
complete compliance package for an airport, including customized software and
the hardware and systems services components needed to implement electronic
fingerprinting for criminal background checks.
The TouchPrint 2000 (TP-2000) live-scan scanner is at the heart of the
SAFERR Solution. The TP-2000 features the Company's patented Moisture
Discrimination technology and is certified to the FBI's highest level of Image
Quality Specification (IQS) for submittal to the national IAFIS
infrastructure. Identix's SAFERR Solution also includes communication
hardware, system installation and end-user training, and has optional features
available to meet additional airport requirements, such as hardcopy printing,
an adjustable-height mobility cart for the system, software to create
management reports, and quality assurance software that enhances the
efficiency of the fingerprinting process. Airports that adopt the Identix
SAFERR Solution obtain the fingerprint clarity benefits of the high resolution
TP-2000 Scanner, resulting in a high quality electronic image record for
submittal to the IAFIS central site. The TP-2000 Scanner continues the
Identix tradition of exceeding the ANSI minimum resolution standard by
providing 600 x 600 dots per inch (dpi) image resolution for both rolled and
four finger "slap" fingerprints -- about 44 percent higher than the 500 x 500
dpi resolution employed by conventional live scan systems.
