The public companies ranked in the Lightreading report

listed 10 top optical Ethernet companies -- the hottest area. Here are these 10 stocks with their Market Cap, Revenue, Cash position, and ratio of market cap over revenue from Yahoo message board:

Ciena ($3.8b, $1.52b, $1.4b, 2.5)
Cisco ($90b, $22.3b, $6.9b, 4)
Extreme ($1.1B, $0.491b, $0.157b, 2.2)
Foundry ($0.9b, $0.39b, $0.26b, 2.3)
Juniper ($3.9b, $1.03b, $1.01b, 3.7)
Nortel ($17.5b, $26.5b, $1.93b, 0.66)
ONI ($0.65b, $0.16b, $0.57b, 4)
Riverstone ($0.83b, $0.16b, $0.22b, 5.2)
Sycamore ($1.11b, $0.38b, $0.83b, 2.9)

with the ratio ranging from 0.66 – 5.2

I wonder how we can justify Marvell’s cap/reveneu ratio of 10.5 with market cap of $2.25b, revenue $0.215b, and cash $0.215b.

ONIS – the Number One vendor in optical Ethernet transport category – was cut in half when it pre-announced a couple of days ago.

A little bit nervous.
