"Sorry but you don't follow the news very well. P4 inventories were described as "tight" about a month ago and volume crossover, P4/P3, is expected in November"

Actually, I do follow the news. I do know that the Taiwanese companies are reporting motherboard shipments of P4 motherboards have increased by almost 50% over Q2, which means that the P4 should ship maybe 1.5 to 2 million units this quarter. Apparently sales are approaching 1 million a month. Needs to be a lot higher to reach crossover with the PIII. And yeah, I know that the 0.13 micron P4s need to be fabbing right now, your point?

As far as AMD making a profit in Q4, that is dependent on flash sales, as always. I think they have a good shot, especially if they take the hit for the closures of those two fabs in this quarter. That would put their breakeven at $940 million or so. With the desktop Palominos finally shipping and the mobile chips seemingly doing well, yeah, they could post a good profit. I increased my AMD portfolio by 25% just recently, so I guess I do believe it.
