V: I agree with the great majority of what you say. We seem to be viewing the same problem from different vantage points.

If there's a better way to run a school district than with professional teachers, locally elected school boards, state oversight and politicians getting involved from time to time, let me know. Baltimore tried the privatization route. End result: No noticeable improvement. Good-bye privatization.

Re: "I don't give a damn if my kid has a computer in his classroom. I would rather he learn how to use it!" I agree.

Again, we seem to be saying the same thing. It's a societal problem more so than an educational problem.
