Intel uses $1 billion like "chump change" when it buys back $1 billion of stock a quarter.

I'll grant you that. What a raucous party their Treasury department must be having!

When they buy back stock, the amount of Intel shares reduces.

When they buy back stock, don't you think the price even matters? INTC emitted $4 billion last year at an average price of $54. Would it be just as great if they paid $75? And they're continuously selling more shares to employees at a discount.

This adds to stockholder value.

It doesn't add to shareholder value to take $20 cash which could earn $.60/year and convert it into INTC shares that won't earn that much this year or next. It actually dilutes EPS.

All I hear from AMD is potentially floating more stock or borrowing money.

You must have your ears closed. AMD has a stock repo program in place, just like INTC.

Doesn't sound much like common sense to me!
