RE: neutron bomb

I certainly hope cooler heads prevail. What we're after here is victory, not retribution, revenge or justice. We have to find ourselves, somehow, in a position after the "war" where the evil idea (militant Islam) is defeated and a good social order (moderate Islam or secular governments which support Islam) has taken root permanently. How the hell will that happen if the U.S. drops tactical nuclear weapons on any of these places?

Almost no matter what we do, 10 years from now Osama bin Laden will be dead (he has liver or kidney disease or something); I personally don't care whether he dies of organ failure or a bullet to the head. His fate and the individual fates of any of the terrorists who planned and carried out 9/11 are, or should be, irrelevant to most of us. But if we cock up this war and manage not only to NOT destroy this evil but somehow do something (drop tacticals) to make it bigger and stronger, then we have signed the death warrant for many many more of our own, and also signed the contract for the end to the American way of life as we know it.

Just my thoughts,
