Your "nameless company" that you are comparing to AER is obviously Valence. The post you refered to was dissing AER by saying no one in their right mind would want their products. Do you seriously believe that no one wants Valence's products? Your motive becomes more clear that what you want is to get under the skin of Valence investors, to show them that they have placed their bets too soon.
I say that if you are in search of the shiniest, prettiest battery you may want to wait and go with, say, Motorola, Toshiba, Sony, 3M, etc. but the battery revenue produced by these sources will be diluted by their vast array of other products. If you want a pure play, go with the smaller company such as Valence, Ultralife, etc. The point is that there is demand enough for the smaller companies to sell their product in to.
As far as Valence Tech goes as a research company, I think you are discounting their expertise too much. They've been at this since 1989 and have tested many configurations. They know lithium batteries.
Your skeptical point of view is interesting and important; it helps keep us from just preaching to the choir. |
