The studies are indeed in very early stages, and the IND is nowhere in sight. Good news for Ligand investors; bad news for people with diabetes and their families. The release says that, from its in vitro and animal studies, "SUGEN has identified several different drug candidates .... These compounds are now in preclinical development and the Company plans to select an initial IND candidate by the end of 1997.'' Regards, Cheryl
