It looks like I might not get a bounce in RFMD at all today. I've traded it quite successfully several times. Maybe my luck is running out. I am going to hold on until tomorrow. The entire SOX is so oversold that a bounce would be expected even if companies don't have good news. We might test your low points but unless we get another terrorist attack it's likely that we see near 363 again and then move higher.

1:20PM Communication IC's : Sell pressure hitting the group on talk they are likely to miss this quarter's numbers; notable names trading lower include Xilinx (XLNX -13.1%), Altera (ALTR -8.3%), Vitesse Semiconductor (VTSS -7.5%) and PMC Sierra (PMCS -9.7%).

12:43PM Intel (INTC) 21.24 -0.44 (-2.03%): Company files patent infringement lawsuit against Via Technologies; the suit has been filed in Germany, the U.K., and Hong Kong.

10:26AM RF Micro Device (RFMD) 18.12 -1.68: After opening unchanged, stock getting hit on Nokia (NOK 16.54 -0.52) call by Morgan Stanley (see 8:30 InPlay comment). Last year, 53% of RFMD's sales were to Nokia.

9:57AM Applied Materials (AMAT) 30.65 +0.10: -- Update -- Sources at Salomon Smith Barney telling us that the firm says the contract with Grace Semi (see 9:46 comment) was already known and that AMAT should book roughly $125 mln from this contract in its Oct qtr.
