Then, wouldn't the same apply to Nadine preaching pacifism to the Palestinians who are under daily siege by Israeli troops?

The siege is in response to the intifada. Do you really expect the Israelis to keep the borders open for the gunmen and suicide bombers? Feel free to wage your little war, boys, we won't take any measures in response?

If the Palestinians had ever had the wit to stage nonviolent protests, they would have had a state long since. But to do that, they would have had to suppress their radical Muslim elements, who cannot arrive at a modus vivendi with Jews as a matter of principle.

That is why Arafat kept calling Oslo 'the Treaty of Qubbaiya' (Just as Musharraf cited the Treaty of Qubbaiya wrt Pakistani cooperation with the US, just the other day).

Quick recap on the Treaty of Qubbaiya: Mohammed was in a weak position vis-a-vis the infidel Qureish. So he signed a peace treaty. Two years later, he was in a stronger position, so he slaughtered the Qureish. This is what fundamentalist Muslims mean by a 'peace treaty'. The rest of us call it, a 'temporary cease fire'.
