Mitch, In Christ, all Christians are called Saints in the Bible. So I was referring to anyone who has died as a Christian immediately being transported to Heaven.

There is a verse in Revelation that indicates that after Christ had dealt with the Jews in 70 AD that it ended the Jewish age but also started the Age of the Church. At that time, my belief is that event enabled all that died in Christ to realize their reward in Heaven.

As to St. Peter, the Roman Catholic Church claims that St. Peter, as the founder of the Catholic religion passed on the keys of the Kingdom to them, therefore giving the RCs the authority to bind or release people from sin on earth as well as Heaven. I completely disagree with that theory, however, as far as I am aware, Peter and James were the main apostles that stayed in Jerusalem and held the Jewish/Christian temple together. I also believe that all things point to James and Peter as being the two witnesses that is mentioned in the final days.

My final thought as to RC having the authority to forgive sins is pure man made tradition of that church. Protestants in the 5th century saw that church as apostate as many still do today.(Many were executed or thrown in dungeons for that belief also.)
