New Russian oil pipeline opens BBC Monitoring Service - United Kingdom; Sep 26, 2001 Text of report in English by Russian news agency Interfax Novorossiysk, 25 September: The new oil pipeline between Sukhodolnaya and Rodionovskaya inspires confidence that Russia's geopolitical interests will be guaranteed, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Khristenko said at a ceremony marking the departure of the first tanker carrying oil from this pipeline. He said the project is very important for Russia. He also said that the new pipeline will not affect Ukraine's oil-refining industry, as Russia has not imposed any limitations on Russian oil supplies to the Lysychansk, Odessa and Kremenchug oil refineries. The 259 kilometre-long Sukhodolnaya-Rodionovskaya oil pipeline directly links two other pipelines bypassing Ukraine, allowing Russia to save on transit costs.
