Ed, Once you get past the moral relativism that you put forth, you get down to good and evil -- and many of these fanatics are evil. It will most likely take New York to be nuked, or the Seabrook reactor to be sabotaged irradiating the entire East Coast before the U.S. actually does anything of real significance. Until then, we'll go back and forth between how "We don't want to be like them". Well, let me tell you, we can be like them. We just haven't lost enough life yet to prove it, but in time, with our existing policies, lives will be lost. And while we're moral relativising about how we don't want to be like them, in the end, it will only be "them" that exist.
