I think what we can be proud of is that we have had the means of mass-murder and not used them ... I think the concept of mutual assured destruction had a little to do with it, but I agree on your main point - mass murder is mass murder, no matter the excuse. However, if we are to be judged by the sins of our ancestors, heaven will be quite an empty place.
