They really are being foolish. One day they can't find him, the next day they can.

Now, they can't be believed at all, (giving them the benefit of the doubt before) and so they have painted themselves and everyone else into a corner. IMO any chance for (if there ever was any) action other than military re finding ben laden is gone.
